3.  You see your spouse every day, but you don’t feel like every day is enough.

This sounds sweet on the surface, but again, it’s erring on co-dependency.  We don’t want to wear each other out.   We want to bring out the absolute best in one another.

My husband has said that a husband and wife are like two wings on the same bird, with Christ as the head.  This is a beautiful image of a husband and wife soaring together, but this will not work unless there are two wings.  I’ve never seen a bird fly with one wing smothering the other.  That bird will never get off the ground.

A husband and wife are to live life as ONE–unified in their commitment, purpose, and vision for their lives.  But, this doesn’t mean that they can’t have some individuality while still being unified.  We live this out by supporting each other’s unique gifts, talents, and dreams and by being each other’s biggest encourager.  When both the husband and wife choose to life one another up, they will both soar.

Thank you so much for reading, responding, and sharing.  I’d love to connect with you on Facebook and Instagram.

Also, my husband and I are getting ready to launch a comprehensive and interactive resource for struggling couples called, “Fighting for my Marriage,” and we’d love for you to be the first to check it out.  Go to Fighting for my Marriage, for more information.  Be blessed!
