A relationship sabbatical is a detrimental escape that keeps a couple from working through the problem and getting the help they need.

3.  A relationship sabbatical is a detrimental escape that keeps a couple from working through the problem and getting the help they need.

When we’re angry, hurt, and disappointed it’s only natural to want to take an easy way out.  At the time, some of us may even consider a relationship sabbatical/hall pass as a means to an end, but I promise you, it’s not.  There are many marriage resources out there that can help.  Read the top marriage books  together, go see a Christian marriage counselor, attend a marriage retreat/conference, talk to your pastor, talk to trusted couples in your life who have a strong marriage, and pray together and for each other.

Bottom line, do whatever it takes to find solutions to the problem.  DO NOT consider having an affair–a relationship sabbatical/hall pass–as a solution to your marriage problems.  This will only put a huge wedge between you and your spouse and lead to more issues.

Don’t have time to attend a marriage retreat right now?  Check out our latest video resource, “MARRIED,” that is full of practical and effective marriage advice from those who are passionate about cultivating stronger marriages.  Find out more about  “MARRIED” by clicking here.

Our spouse and family deserve our best effort–not a hall pass.  Let’s give him/her our BEST time and attention.  Let’s do those things we did in the beginning.   Let’s serve one another and encourage each other.  Let’s stop pointing fingers and do our part to make things better.  Let’s get the help we need and fight for our marriage TOGETHER.

Are you and your spouse in crisis?  Please don’t give up.  There is help.  Go to Fighting for my Marriage, for more information.

Thank you for reading, responding, and sharing.  I’d love to connect with you on Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram.

Be blessed!
