My husband, Dave, started the Facebook Marriage Page a little over three years ago. Since then, almost 1 million people have “liked” the page in an effort to strengthen their marriages. Most of YOU are part of this amazing community. You are one in a million followers on a Facebook page, but more importantly, you have a ONE-IN-A-MILLION MARRIAGE. Here’s why:
1. You and your spouse are two UNIQUE individuals that make up a ONE OF A KIND couple.
The term “one in a million” essentially means rare, precious, or special. No two people are exactly the same, so no two marriages are the same. When God brought the two of you together, He had special plans for you–and He still does. It’s important for us to remember this and to do those things that God calls us to do both individually and as a couple.
For more details about this, read, “My husband doesn’t complete me and I will tell you why”.
2. No one else on Earth shares you PARTICULAR LOVE STORY.
Remember when you first met? Whether there were literal fireworks or not, only the two of you have that precious memory stored away in your mind and hearts. I love how Dave and I share lots of funny, romantic, and even awkward stories from our dating days. I love the fact that those stories belong to us and no one else. There’s an exclusivity in our story and YOUR story. No one can take this from you…so don’t let them even try. Embrace your love story and celebrate it by remembering those sweet encounters in the early days of your relationship and taking steps to keep your love story going strong.
3. Your partnership carries a SPECIAL TESTIMONY.
No one is perfect; therefore, no marriage is perfect. The fact that you are even reading this blog means that you desire to have a great marriage. That’s a huge step in the right direction. As a perfectly, imperfect pairing, we may fall, but–as supportive spouses–we pick each other up. We keep going by learning from our mistakes and growing. And, every time we serve each other, love each other, and refuse to give up on one another, God is weaving together a beautiful tapestry of our special testimony–the undeniable, visible proof that we are in this marriage for the long haul. God uses our example of faithfulness not only to help other couples to have hope to carry on in hard times, but He shows us that WE can depend on each other when life seems overwhelming.
4. The two of you are creating your OWN LASTING LEGACY.
Each and every day, we are putting coins in our “legacy bank”. It’s so important that we keep this in mind when we make decisions. This carries even more weight with it when children are involved. We want to show our kids that marriage is a good thing, and how we respond to one another–especially when we are mad at each other–will leave a lasting impression on our kids and our own hearts. As I mentioned before, we’re going to make mistakes, but we have to learn from them. Let’s strive to build a one-in-a-million legacy of love where respect, grace, persistence, humility, and laugher flow.
Friends, embrace your one-in-a-million marriage today. Don’t deny your spouse or yourself the beautiful relationship that God has given you. There’s nothing else like it in the world.
Celebrate YOUR one-in-a-million and join us on Instagram! Share your favorite marriage advice and photos of you and your spouse by including #oneinamillionmarriage in your post.
