The Bible… Ugh…

Last updated on: March 26, 2012 at 11:45 pm   By Andy Gill

For the past couple of weeks it’s almost as if my bible has been glaring at me, as it sits untouched in my book bag. Every time I look at it I swear, this supposed inanimate object, is straight judging me, for Almost completely neglecting it for only God knows how long. Confession: I haven’t picked up the bible and read through it in a LONG time (too embarrassed/ashamed to admit how long) I mean I’ve read it, I’ve skimmed... Read more

Following Jesus Outside of the Church

Last updated on: November 23, 2015 at 8:46 pm   By Andy Gill

So my students convinced myself and my buddy Alvia (who was co leading the small group with me) to take them to this show, with TONS of “hardcore bands” I’m not a screamo fan, at all. But I thought it’d be good to go and see inside their world and what they do every so often. So we took them. It wasn’t a christian event by any means. I’m pretty sure 90% of the bands performing were stoned or drunk…... Read more

Manic…

Last updated on: February 29, 2012 at 10:02 am   By Andy Gill

So this week is going to be crazy. I’m bout to go crazy. I think for the state of mind I’m in currently would best be described as manic… Googled it to make sure I wasn’t misusing it…   man·ic/ˈmanik/   Adjective: Showing wild and apparently deranged excitement and energy: “manic enthusiasm”. Frenetically busy; frantic: “the pace is manic as we near our deadline”. Synonyms: maniac (more…) Read more

Communicating: Comedic Relief

Last updated on: February 27, 2012 at 6:45 am   By Andy Gill

In my morning routine as I’m getting ready for the day, I usually plug in a podcast, mostly sermons that I listen to (Chandler, Chan, Driscoll, etc) but I decided to check out the Ted Talks they post online and make available via podcast… In this podcast Chris Bliss breaks down the importance of communicating, the entire message is worth listening to but what stood out to most is this:  A great piece of comedy is a verbal magic trick… ... Read more

Follow up: “I’m Sorry I’m a Christian”

Last updated on: February 21, 2012 at 7:03 am   By Andy Gill

Yesterday I posted a video as seen below. I should have added more explanation behind my posting it. My bad. ha. But I was asked via Facebook, whether or not I actually feel this way… in short. Yes. Though let me clarify a bit. For starters… though some of you may have thought that asian guy was me, it wasn’t. I wish i was that smooth with my words, but unfortunately i’m not. Secondly, though it wasn’t me, I don’t... Read more

Excerpt.

Last updated on: February 13, 2012 at 7:08 pm   By Andy Gill

Just got off work and headed straight to Panera to continue to do some more work.  Here’s a little excerpt of a message i’m giving at a camp:  And with this because God was calling Peter, and because God did go before Moses, and because God atoned for Isaiah’s sins… Peter was able to walk on water, Moses was able to lead Israel to the promise land, and Isaiah was sent as a prophet speaking the very words of God.... Read more

The Morning.

Last updated on: February 10, 2012 at 7:00 am   By Andy Gill

I love the morning. Everything about it.  The fact that it represents a fresh start.  How still and quiet it is.  Whether or not it’s summer, winter, spring, or the fall. I love it.  I love waking up before anyone else has woken up.  I especially love mornings in the summer, grabbing my hoody throwing my shorts on, getting a cup of coffee and sitting on the beach, walking through the woods, or sitting on my front porch…  I love... Read more

Prayer Request.

Last updated on: February 9, 2012 at 10:00 am   By Andy Gill

So I’m speaking at a few spots in California soon.  And I’m currently in Panera doing some message prep for it.  First off, I’m super stoked to be able to continue to speak, but as I continue on the path of speaking, I can’t help but become more and more humbled within the process. Mainly because the more I prepare the more I realize how little control I have to change the students and leaders lives who will be hearing... Read more
