Will God ever give up on you? 2025-09-23T18:21:26-05:00 Andrew Farley

LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

Quick Answer: We know that God is faithful to people in a general sense, but what about to individuals? Will God ever give up on you? No, God never gives up on you. God will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). No one can snatch you out of His hand (John 10:28). Even when you are faithless, He remains faithful (2 Timothy 2:13). Nothing separates you from the love of Christ (Romans 8:38).

Diving Deeper: The only thing that angers God is sin, but if you are a believer, then God has removed your sins (Psalm 103:12). He has taken them away forever (1 John 3:5; Hebrews 10:14). So, God is never angry with you for any reason. This means He will never give up on you!

Romans 5:1 says: “Since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” If you have peace with God, you don’t have to worry about staying on His good side. There’s no longer a sin issue between you and Him, and He is always good to you!

God’s grace won’t run out, because the blood of Jesus can’t be exhausted. Romans 5:20 assures us that “where sin increased, grace abounded all the more.” God won’t give up on you, because you’re permanently washed, justified, and sanctified (1 Corinthians 6:11).

In conclusion, there are many promises God has given us that convince us He’ll never give up on us: God will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). No one can snatch you out of God’s hand (John 10:28). Even when you are faithless, He remains faithful (2 Timothy 2:13). Nothing separates you from the love of Christ (Romans 8:38).

Let’s Make It a Conversation!
1. Have you ever felt like God might give up on you? Why?
2. Where have you drawn the line of God giving up on people? Does the truth of the Gospel move that line?
3. Read Hebrews 13:5 and react to this statement: Those who believe God will give up on them are calling Him a liar.
