Is 2 Timothy 3:16 a Good Defence of Sola Scriptura?
Last updated on: September 21, 2019 at 11:19 am By K. Albert Little
This article is part of the Tough Questions series. A series highlighting some of the difficult questions I was asking during my conversion from a non-denominational Christian to full communion with the Catholic Church. For more about my own conversion story, read What I Wish I Knew About Catholics (And Why I’m Becoming One). Up until the time of the Protestant Reformation in the 1500’s all Christians believed that their faith was shaped, understood, and transmitted through a combination of... Read more

The Great Big Gaping Hole in Young Earth Creationism
Last updated on: September 21, 2019 at 2:32 pm By K. Albert Little
I recently caught an interesting debate between Ken Ham, from Answers in Genesis, and Jeff Zweerink from Reasons to Believe on the idea of Young Earth Creationism. Ken Ham, who was famously engaged in a debate with Bill Nye, argued for a literal interpretation of the creation narrative found in Genesis. In other words, that we live on a young earth which is only thousands of years old. Ham argues, passionately, that anything other than “believing God at his word” would... Read more

025: Evangelizing Non-Catholic Family and Friends (w/ Matt Swaim)
Last updated on: October 14, 2020 at 8:41 pm By K. Albert Little
In this episode of The Cordial Catholic Podcast I talk to Matt Swaim about how to evangelize our non-Catholic family and friends. Matt, like me, is a convert to the Catholic faith. He also works at The Coming Home Network’s Outreach Manager and hosts the daily Catholic radio show, The Son Rise Morning Show, on EWTN. Matt shares some really–truly–incredible insights into how we can witness with our Catholic faith to those that don’t necessarily share it. For more about... Read more

024: Do Catholics have a Personal Relationship with Christ? (w/ Pat Flynn)
Last updated on: October 14, 2020 at 8:42 pm By K. Albert Little
In this episode of The Cordial Catholic Podcast I talk with Pat Flynn to talk about one of the most important and fundamental questions about Catholicism: Do Catholics have a personal relationship with Christ? We also hear a bit of Pat Flynn’s fantastic conversion story out of faith and into atheism, philosophy, evangelical Christianity and finally into the Catholic Church based, in part, on the very question we tackle today. It’s a fantastic episode and I know you’ll love it.... Read more

4 Proofs for the Catholic Church in the Book of Acts
Last updated on: September 7, 2019 at 1:26 pm By K. Albert Little
As a non-denominational evangelical Protestant I remember sitting in pew one morning while the pastor played a video created by a member of the church. It was a short, funny video made out of Lego dramatizing the appointment of Matthias from the Book of Acts. The video followed the text from Acts but ended with a pithy, “…and he was never heard from again.” We all laughed. As evangelical Christians most of us, I would wager, had a fairly murky... Is the Catholic Church Just Another Christian Denomination?
Last updated on: September 6, 2019 at 2:53 pm By K. Albert Little
As a non-denominational evangelical Christian I thought the Catholic Church was just another denomination. Just another expression of Christianity. And, for the most part, a pretty crappy and corrupt one. I thought that Catholics worshiped statues, they elevated the Virgin Mary beyond a reasonable degree, and they didn’t have a personal relationship with Jesus. Not like I had, anyway. But as I began to dig into history my perspective on denominationalism and Catholicism began to change. I was shocked, in fact, to... Read more

023: Debunking the Science vs. Catholicism Conflict (w/ Dr. Stacy Trasancos)
Last updated on: October 14, 2020 at 8:44 pm By K. Albert Little
In this episode of The Cordial Catholic Podcast I talk with Dr. Stacy Trasancos about the supposed conflict between faith and science. Dr. Trasancos, a PhD chemist with a degree in dogmatic theology, is the author of Particles of Faith and a sought after speaker on the intersection of Catholicism and science. We discuss how science points towards a creator, how and why we need to be careful with relying too much on science to back up our faith, and... Read more

Catholics Should Use Science to Evangelize Says Chemist
Last updated on: September 5, 2019 at 7:42 pm By K. Albert Little
Ever since I first heard her speak on an episode of Catholic Answers Live I was dying to chat with Dr. Stacy Trasancos. A convert to Catholicism, Dr. Trasancos received her PhD in Chemistry and, at the height of her career, had a conversion to Christ and His Church. She’s gone on to receive an MA in Dogmatic Theology and now writes, speaks, and leads other in how to evangelize—especially through science. Her fantastic book is Particles of Faith. And... Read more

Here’s Why Protestant Bibles Are Too Small
Last updated on: August 29, 2019 at 1:02 pm By K. Albert Little
When I had a radical conversion to Christ in high school I knew nothing about denominations or apostolic succession or the history of the Bible. So, a few days after accepting Christ I bummed a ride over to the local Christian bookstore where I picked out the coolest looking Bible I could find—a big black faux-leather Xtreme Teen Study Bible, New King James Version. So extreme it was missing an “e.” Ridiculous as the whole thing sounds now that Bible was,... Read more

022: Where Did We Get the Bible From? (w/ Rod Bennett)
Last updated on: October 14, 2020 at 8:44 pm By K. Albert Little
In this episode of The Cordial Catholic Podcast I talk with author Rod Bennett about the origins of the Bible. We dig deep – way deep – into the history of the Biblical canon. Why are some books in Catholic Bibles and not in those read by Protestants? How did those decisions get made? What role did the Early Church and the Pope play in these important decisions. We also wrestle with the question of Tradition vs. Scripture and... Read more
