Linkage

Last updated on: March 22, 2013 at 2:37 pm   By Aine Llewellyn

Another short blurb today - I'm trying to blog more frequently over here, but my schedule only allows for longer posts on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays - but I'm hoping to fill Wednesdays and Fridays with little posts. I've gotten linked to some excellent posts today, and I wanted to share some of them with you. Read more

Gratitude [1]

Last updated on: March 21, 2013 at 7:17 pm   By Aine Llewellyn

This post was going to be about boundaries and how Pagandom steamrolls boundaries. There were a lot of topics stewing in my mind, all with a tinge of anger and frustration. All my anger got spent on Tumblr, though. So all the anger-tinted topics are pushed to the side, and I pursue a different path today - one of gratitude. Read more

Brief: Capitalization & Spelling

Last updated on: March 20, 2013 at 11:24 am   By Aine Llewellyn

One of my biggest irritations that I run into, though, is this recurring fight over the various spellings of 'magic' and whether or not to capitalize 'gods' and 'goddesses' (as well as pronouns for gods and goddesses). You would think that the issue would be pretty easy to discuss and put to rest without any squabbling. Read more

Ten Tidbits of Telling

Last updated on: March 19, 2013 at 6:37 pm   By Aine Llewellyn

Unfortunately, today is not a very eloquent or deep thinking sort of day - so, instead, I will leave you with snippets from various stories relating to the new gods I work with and the spirits connected to them. Read more

20 Lessons

Last updated on: March 15, 2013 at 2:50 pm   By Aine Llewellyn

I'm turning 20 today, which is an interesting age, one where most people say, "One more year!" as if I've never had alcohol in my life. Though I am looking forward to next year, that has more to do with being able to buy alcoholic offerings (the ones I prefer to give) than with being able to consume. Read more

Names Upon Names Upon…

Last updated on: March 12, 2013 at 9:05 pm   By Aine Llewellyn

There are so many names for so many gods, and more names for each god. The amount is dizzying. The endlessness is lovely. Each name is a revelation, a discovery, a chance. Read more

Getting It Wrong

Last updated on: March 9, 2013 at 9:24 am   By Aine Llewellyn

...yesterday, sitting down comfortably and chewing on my pen, it came to me. It wasn't a flash or sudden burst of knowledge, but a slow unfolding of 'this is the story'. As strange as is sounds, the answers and events were not my own but belonged to the spirits and gods and the land I work with. And the story showed that I got many, many things wrong. Read more

Naming

Last updated on: March 8, 2013 at 1:41 pm   By Aine Llewellyn

Names and identifiers are a pretty big deal. While I've heard people high and low say that 'labels don't matter', I can't agree with that. Sure, breaking down barriers that labels and identifications can establish can be a good thing and create great, exciting, unexpected dialog - but what we call ourselves and what others call us is still important. Read more

Single Polytheism

Last updated on: March 6, 2013 at 6:22 pm   By Aine Llewellyn

I've noticed, in my wanderings and peeking in to random Pagan places on and offline, that there is a tendency to stick with one or two deities when it comes to worship and celebration. I can't exactly say this is de facto a bad thing, as it works for many people and is just how they do things, but it has struck me as odd. Read more
