Okay, paranormal enthusiasts…which location would you rather investigate (or have you?)?

A. MYRTLES PLANTATION

The Myrtles Plantation, located in St. Francisville, Louisiana, is a historic antebellum mansion that has gained a reputation as one of the most haunted homes in America. It was originally built in 1796 by General David Bradford and later became known as the Myrtles Plantation due to the abundance of myrtle trees on the property.

One of the most famous legends associated with the Myrtles Plantation involves a slave named Chloe. According to the story, Chloe was a house slave who had an affair with the plantation owner’s son. In an attempt to win favor and protect herself, she baked a cake containing poisonous oleander leaves. Unfortunately, the plan backfired, and it is believed that Chloe accidentally killed Sarah, the plantation owner’s wife, and her two daughters.

Today, it is said that Chloe’s spirit still haunts the Myrtles Plantation. Visitors have reported seeing a ghostly figure of a woman wearing a green turban, believed to be Chloe, wandering the property. Other paranormal phenomena experienced at the Myrtles include strange noises, unexplained footsteps, flickering lights, and even the sensation of being touched by unseen hands.

The Myrtles Plantation is open to the public and offers guided tours that delve into its rich history and paranormal legends. The house is meticulously preserved and showcases period furniture, décor, and architecture, giving visitors a glimpse into plantation life in the 19th century. Whether or not you believe in the supernatural, the Myrtles Plantation provides an intriguing and atmospheric experience for those interested in history and ghostly folklore.

NOTE: The Chloe legend has not been validated and it is a legend, but whether it is Chloe haunting the property or someone else, this location is quite active according to investigators.

B. LIZZIE BORDEN HOUSE

The Lizzie Borden House, located in Fall River, Massachusetts, is infamous for being the site of the brutal double murders of Andrew and Abby Borden in 1892. Lizzie Borden, Andrew’s daughter, was accused but acquitted of the crimes, and the case remains a subject of fascination and speculation to this day.

The house, now operating as the Lizzie Borden Bed and Breakfast Museum, offers visitors the opportunity to explore the place where the murders occurred and learn about the Borden family and the trial that followed. The house has been restored to its appearance at the time of the murders, with much of the original furniture and décor intact.

Many people believe the Lizzie Borden House to be haunted, with reports of paranormal activity experienced by guests and staff. Visitors have claimed to witness apparitions, hear disembodied voices, and feel cold spots throughout the house. Some claim to have seen the spirits of Andrew and Abby Borden themselves.

The Lizzie Borden House has become a popular destination for paranormal enthusiasts and those interested in true crime. In addition to guided tours, the bed and breakfast offers overnight stays in rooms that were once occupied by the Borden family. Guests can immerse themselves in the history and atmosphere of the infamous murders.
