Friday, January 27th at 7:07 PM we welcome in the first moon of the new year, but you may have already felt the ebb and flow of energy.

This New Moon will take some action on your part. Remember the last time you experienced rejection and felt as if you couldn’t even move, but then something fabulous happened and you wondered why you were acting like a lovesick teenager? Well, this New Moon offers you a fresh start. But there’s no miracle; there’s work and action that can make it so.

My clients come to me for assistance in validating that their loved ones are okay on the Other Side and for guidance in their own life. You don’t need me or any other medium, though. You only need to learn how to shut out the static of this world in order to listen to your angels, guides, and loved ones. When we panic or feel as if the world has turned on us, the white noise becomes even louder. This New Moon urges you to find your quiet place and reset your vision.

The week before this New Moon lends itself to many concerns over financial situations, friendship and family drama, and frustrations that made many feel super emotional. Remember that tomorrow is always another day. You can only do as much as you can. You are human and not super-human.

With this new moon in AQUARIUS, a water sign, emotions run high, especially dealing with humanitarian issues. This energy holds a bucket of varying emotions, which for an empath might be overwhelming. This is revolutionary time filled with unlimited possibilities, however this moon reminds you to be the leader of your life and be the change. Throwing judgments and criticism around at what you wish would happen, or wish hadn’t happened, doesn’t help with the shift. Changing the world, re-birth, first must happen with oneself. Turn the setbacks into a comeback.

Take some time during this New Moon, even if just 15 minutes and journal, or take some deep breaths, or maybe take a bubble bath. Focus on what you need and want to happen and let go of the worry surrounding you only magnetizing what you DON’T want. This is also a great Moon to go shopping and try a new style! And seeing that it is a Moon with regards to NEW BEGINNINGS, it is a great time for you to step out of your comfort zone and do something new.

If you are feeling down or just off, you might want to smudge. Burning white sage helps to clear your space of all negativity and negative energies. Smudge sticks are used in traditional Native American ceremonies to purify people and places. There are similar ceremonies in many cultures where herbs are burned for cleansing. Smudging can be used to counteract depression, anger, or bitterness.

“Cleanse this space, remove the past. I’ve found my happiness at long last. Fill this space with joy and love and send your blessings from above.”

Here are some good exercises for you to do for the NEW MOON:

NEW MOON WISHES:

Each month on the new moon write up a list of 10 wishes. It can be anything from romance to finances and anything in between.
Don’t write more than 10 wishes AND handwrite (don’t type, it makes it more personable).
Try to make your wish list within the first eight hours of the new moon.
If you miss the first eight hours, you can still make your wish list within the first 48 hours of the new moon.

NEW MOON ABUNDANCE:

Writing an Abundance Check is an exercise you can use to create more abundance in your life and the check is to be written within 24 hours of each New Moon.

On your check where it says “Pay to,” write your name.
On the same line where you would fill in a dollar amount write “Paid in full.”
On the next line where you would write out a dollar amount, write “Paid in full.” [Some say it works better if you don’t add the squiggly line.]
On the signature line, sign your check: “The Law of Abundance”
If you don’t have checks, or don’t; want to waste one, you can simply create a handwritten one.
It is not necessary to put a date on the check (although I do). DO NOT write a specific dollar amount on the check. Then put the check away in a safe place and forget about it. You might even want to burn it on the Full Moon (I will get to that on the next Full Moon).
Allow the Universe to take over from there. Yep, that silly control thing. Let it go!

NEW MOON AFFIRMATION:

The past has no power over me, and the future is mine to write. I am ready to receive new <money, love, fulfillment, etc> into my life now.

If there’s something unsatisfactory in your life – change it.

WHAT TO DO WITH CHECK:

So what do you do with the check afterwards? This is a personal choice. You can burn it or rip it up on the full moon, handing it back to the Universe or you can put it in a shoebox or a journal. I write my wishes on the back of the check and I keep mine unless I feel as if I need an extra dose of magick and burn it during some of the special full moons. I’ve been tickled going back and re-reading my wishes years later.
