Shhh…Mercury is Sleeping and the Full Moon is Coming! 2014-10-05T17:33:37-06:00 Kristy Robinett
Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.
The October Full Moon is called the HUNTERS MOON Time for hunting and storing of provisions Also known as the Travel Moon.
Mercury Retrograde occurs three times a year, and lasts for several weeks during each time period. It is said that Mercury Retrograde goes backwards, or takes a vacation, or is napping. Mercury is ruled by communication, so anything with communication, contracts and legal obligations can and often does go haywire.
Our final Mercury Retrograde of 2014 is on October 4th lasting until October 25th, but we are within the shadow of chaos two weeks before it begins and two weeks afterwards. Sort of like when you know your vacation is coming up, and you start to wind down a couple weeks before it, and then it takes a while to get into the swing of things when you get back. Yep, just like that. The easiest way to deal with Mercury Retrograde is to think of it as a ‘re’ time. Meaning, it is time to renovate, renew, revise, return, revisit, refinance, renegotiate, review, etc. When buying things during this time, they often work for a short period and then break. When getting a job at this time, it is often short term (it doesn’t mean you get fired, it can also mean you get promoted!). When purchasing a house or a big ticket item, be prepared for issues. To put it in a nutshell, it isn’t a great time to make big changes, huge commitments, or have ‘the talk’ with a romantic partner. Instead is a time to look in the past (review) at what you need to let go of, it can be material or emotional, and correct it for a better future. Sort of like set up for the party, but don’t invite anybody yet. It isn’t a grand time to start anything new, unless it is something you can say you are re-newing.
We all like to make excuses. “Is it a full moon or what?” Well, many add Mercury Retrograde to the repertoire for excuses. *“Darn, my dishwasher broke. Stupid Mercury Retrograde!”*I admit it, sometimes I blame the moon and stars (and planets) too. I like explanations and if I can look at the celestial, which cannot bite back (or can it?) and point my finger, it sometimes makes me feel better. Look at it from a realistic standpoint too, though. Sometimes it just is what it is and poor Mercury needs a break too!
So, how do you handle the next three weeks? Carefully. You may talk, and feel as if nobody is listening. Think Charlie Brown’s teacher. People may be more spacey. Your, and others, energy may be a bit more lazy. And if you are traveling, you may have more issues with the car, train, or plane. Instead of cringing, sighing and whining, Mercury Retrograde teaches us patience. Sometimes I think all of us have lost ourselves as our world has gotten so complicated and electronically driven. So when you told your kid to do something twenty times instead of the normal ten times, and it still isn’t done – take some deep breathes and repeat (see the ‘re’) a different way. If you haven’t heard from that job you applied for, submit your resumes to different places, Just know that after this period they may review your application and give you a call. If that cute boy you had your eye on hasn’t called you, instead of wondering and driving yourself and your friends neurotic, take the time to work on yourself. You will probably feel emotional, frustrated and sad and will have to consciously exit from the pity party.
So what should you expect during this time? Be prepared for frustration with missed or late appointments, missed flights, broken electronics, ornery people, crabby bosses, lost mail or packages, and the list goes on and on. Think of it as a test of wills, a time of (re)flection on what really matters in your life.
What NOT to do during Mercury Retrograde (or at least TRY not to do):
- This is a horrible time to make important decisions such as:
- Buying a new car
- Signing legal documents
- Starting or accepting a new job
- Filing legal papers/court documents
- Buying electronics
- Putting your house up for sale
- Buying a new house/leasing apartment
- Meeting new people/relationship/work etc.
- Don’t get involved in petty arguements
- Don’t focus on the stress
- Don’t compare. Your imagination will be in overload
What to do to help make this smoother for now and beyond:
- Look at insecurities and release them
- Look at people in your life you might need to release
- Look for something positive every day
- Leave early
- Stay organized
- Work out
- Indulge in long and deep conversations
- Take care of your health – sinus, headaches, heartburn and exhaustion will be felt during this time.
- Go to bed early
- Shut off the electronics
- Meditate
- Find a creative outlet to get all the excess emotion released
- Breathe
Mercury Retrograde does ask for you to look in the mirror at yourself, pulling out the rearview mirror even, and seeing what demons you have carried with you through the years – and then doing an exorcism of sorts.
Now, you can’t put your life on hold for 9 weeks a year – but just know that starting something new at this time could result in being short-term. And not always in a bad way. Say you accept a new job, you might get a quick promotion. Personally I don’t dictate my life through astrology, but I use it to better understand the blips and bumps that happen. We all need practice in patience and although most of us all hate lessons, this is one you don’t need to study for. Release and grow. And hold on.
FULL MOON ALERT – Wednesday, October 8th at 6:51 a.m. EST in ARIES (combined with a Lunar Eclipse in LIBRA) When an eclipse occurs, the emotions caused from the moon is intensified. And with the sun in Libra and the moon in Aries, you are feeling urged to find harmony and balance in your life. You will feel this a couple days before and a couple days afterwards! Aries is a spunky sign and during this phase you will more than likely feel braver than you have in a long time. This is the time to take thought out chances and risks that will help you create more independence in your life. Remember that thoughts create things, so by even making changes to how you think about what you want and how you want it (leave a deadline date out of it), then you can use this full moon to push that harmony and balance into your life at a quicker pace.
SOUL-WORK: Write down 10 things that you want to stop in your life and then rip them up or burn them and then write down 10 things that you do want in your life and focus on that!
NOW is the TIME: Do: Feel the anger and express it even if writing it down and throwing it out. Don’t: Point fingers and blame to everybody and anybody. Do: Speak up. Don’t: Stay quiet. Do: Take action in all aspects of your life. Don’t: Just sit and wait for someone to do this and that for you. It won’t happen. Do: Make decisions and follow through on them. This is not the time to be passive. Don’t: Delay on decisions. Do: Practice being brave and courageous. Even with little things. Don’t: Stay quiet. This is not the time to be passive. Do: Face your fears and express them to people around you, but most of all yourself. Don’t: Run away from the shadows.
**** Kristy Robinett (Livonia, MI) is a psychic medium and author who began seeing spirits at the age of three. When she was eight, the spirit of her deceased grandfather helped her escape from a would-be kidnapper, and it was then that Robinett realized the Other Side wasn’t so far away. As an adult, she was often called upon by the local police department to examine cold cases in a new light and from a different angle. She gained a solid reputation for being extremely accurate at psychical profiling and giving new perspectives on unsolved crimes. It was then that she began working with a variety of law enforcement agencies, attorneys and private investigators around the United States, aiding in missing persons, arson, and cold cases. Her psychic detective work was recognized in a new series on the ID Network, Restless Souls.
Robinett teaches psychic development and paranormal investigating at local colleges, lectures across the country and is a regular media commentator and has been spotlighted on Coast to Coast, Darkness Radio, ABC News, Fox News and the Ricki Lake Show. She is the author of Forevermore: Guided in Spirit by Edgar Allan Poe; Messenger Between Worlds: True Stories from a Psychic Medium; Higher Intuitions Oracle; Ghosts of Southeast Michigan; and Michigan’s Haunted Legends and Lore.
