Last updated on: April 27, 2019 at 8:49 pm   By Kris Hughes

Grace Notes: Sacred Rubbish

Last updated on: April 24, 2019 at 6:55 pm   By Grace E

Pagans, for the most part, agree with the general sense that we worship nature/the earth or, at the very least, hold it in incredible reverence compared to other religions. Which makes it even more frustrating when we’re not walking our talk in reference to our sacred sites, festivals, and pilgrimages. Read more

The Purple Spiral Turns: A Druid UU Speaks of Compassion

Last updated on: April 22, 2019 at 2:51 am   By Ayliah Cannon

When we become mindful of the suffering of nature from poisonous toxins, we can use this to understand the poisonous ideologies which weaken our community at all levels. When we begin working to heal the wounds in society, we can be more likely to work on caring for the environment. Read more

Druid in the City: Sneezing Through Meditation, or How I Keep Trying

Last updated on: April 19, 2019 at 11:13 pm   By Victoria S.

I can lose myself in my sewing, or music and interrupt negative thought patterns or improve my mood there. I can feel connected to the spiritual world by standing on my patio, feeling the sun and enjoying the breeze. Is that enough?  Do I really need to do this meditation? Read more

Grace Notes: Compassion Fatigue

Last updated on: April 17, 2019 at 2:43 am   By Grace E

If you can identify meaning in something, even something terrible, it becomes less stressful. Often we talk about reframing the narrative. Spiritual beliefs can inform how you frame the experience in the first place, without the need to reframe. Read more

Phosphoros’ Illuminations: The Pagan Pitfalls of Dualistic Thinking

Last updated on: April 16, 2019 at 7:42 pm   By Phosphoros

The truth is things are rarely simple, particularly when we're dealing with spirituality, and double that for polytheism, where we can hold multiple values, even seemingly contradictory ones, as equally valid.  Paganism is not, at core, dualistic, but rather a rainbow of ideas. Read more

3 Pagans & A Cat: She Has Not Fallen

Last updated on: April 16, 2019 at 3:53 pm   By Ode

Bitterness is easy. Compassion is hard. It is harder still when the spirit to which you should extend it does not resemble you-- does not have human flesh to trigger your pro-social instincts, your animal bonds of attachment and protection. That does not make it less important. For those who work with spirits, it may even be more important-- so few will see the wound, or recognize the need. Do not allow bitterness or resentment or frustration to mar your work in this. Read more
