Guest post by Jon Cressey: Methuselah – a long life wasted?

Last updated on: October 28, 2019 at 9:45 am   By Adrian Warnock

Have you ever sat down and worked your way through the years of the first few generations of mankind (Genesis 5)? It’s a few minutes work, but it is worth it. There are a few surprises that grab your attention straight away. And one of them is a particularly sobering one – Methuselah. Biography Methuselah comes onto the scene in world history with what seems at first to be an outrageous claim by Moses that Methuselah lived to the ripe... Read more

Today we feature, “An Arminocalvinist spectrum or why it’s not so simple as Arminians vs Calvinists”. Although technically written at the end of last year, this post on an arminocalvinist specturm has had an enduring popularity. — I think when we come to the Arminian / Calvinist debate we must understand it is not simply a... Read more

During Adrian’s month away from the blog, he has hand-picked a selection of the most popular posts of the year so far to re-run.  Today we feature, John Piper’s interview with Rick Warren on doctrine and The Purpose Driven Life. John Piper and Rick Warren are friends who come from slightly different wings of the modern church.  It was great to see them discuss what unites them.  As I keep saying, we have enough true enemies of the gospel at... Read more

Guest Post by Andrew Brims – Paul: Reformed, Charismatic, Missional and… Self Funding

Last updated on: October 28, 2019 at 9:45 am   By Adrian Warnock

Adrian’s blog has done a great job of both tracking and encouraging the growth in the number of Christians, churches and ministries that are willing and eager to own the two labels of charismatic and reformed. The apostle Paul was someone we could describe as being both reformed and charismatic. He wrote Romans 9, and spoke in tongues more than you do (1 Cor 14:8). He was also, perhaps above everything else, a missionary. Following his example, ministries like New... Read more

Guest Post: A pioneering woman, pt 3

Last updated on: June 22, 2020 at 2:11 pm   By Adrian Warnock

A pioneering woman, pt 3 By Claire Musters Here is the third part of my interview with Wendy Virgo. As you have both grown in your ministry, to the local church and internationally, has your understanding of any issues changed over the years? Have your approaches changed at all? I think that principles do not change, but the ways they are applied must be flexible. As we have got involved in church planting in other countries we have had to... Read more

Guest Post: A pioneering woman, pt 1

Last updated on: June 22, 2020 at 2:11 pm   By Adrian Warnock

A pioneering woman, pt 1 By Claire Musters Wendy Virgo has always had a pioneering spirit. She married Terry in 1968 and they moved to a small town on the south coast called Seaford. At that stage, they had no idea that eventually the work that began there would spread to hundreds of churches in 60 nations around the world. I had the privilege of interviewing Wendy Virgo in the run up to the last Newfrontiers International Brighton Leaders’ Conference.... Read more

Peace beginning to reign again in the UK

Last updated on: September 16, 2017 at 6:26 pm   By Adrian Warnock

News reports this morning are of a quiet night. We are thankful to God for that. And we are grateful to God for the tools he has used, the robust police response. I support the incredible work by them over the last few nights. As they have been given more resources they have restored order. They have done so in a way that has remained essentially British. Their restraint in not asking for things like water cannon has been admirable.... Read more

Boris Johnson and a multicultural church

Last updated on: September 16, 2017 at 6:19 pm   By Adrian Warnock

This is a fabulous picture of Boris Johnson in Enfield earlier. One of our church members met him, and gave him the Jubilee Church card that he is holding in his hand. If he (or anyone else for that matter!) wants to see what a big crowd of 40 nationalities gathering together in harmony looks like they are welcome to visit Jubilee Church at Enfield Cineworld this or any Sunday at 10am! Read more
