Today, a gunman walked into a small Texas church and opened fire upon the congregation.  Twenty-six people are dead, twenty are wounded, included the pastor’s teenage daughter and another 2 year old boy.  People on social media were quick to politicize the event, mocking those who said they would pray — including the Attorney General of Texas, Ken Paxton:

.@NRA-endorsed TX AG Ken Paxton will pray and *DO NOTHING* about domestic gun terrorism. #SutherlandSpringsTexas #txlege https://t.co/1Ho8FPsnvP

However, Paxton appeared on Fox News to discuss the Sutherland Springs attack.  When asked what we can do to prevent these mass shootings from happening, his response angered many liberals:

“As far as what we can do in the future, I mean, the only thing I know — because you can’t necessarily keep guns out of the hands of people who are going to violate the law. If somebody’s willing to kill someone they’re also going to be willing to violate a gun law,” Paxton said.

“All I can say is that in Texas at least we have the opportunity to have concealed carry. And so if it’s a place where somebody has the ability to carry, there’s always the opportunity that gunman will be taken out before he has the opportunity to kill very many people.”

This is the reaction of most people in the South, but leftists freaked out over this very common sense response.

Ken Paxton is as bad an AG as Abbott is a Governor. Two soulless, greedy subhumans in a pod. https://t.co/25aEmWJR76

After every incident, the same conversation occurs.  However, it’s never a bad idea to learn how to take care of yourself.  In the state of Texas, as well as several other states, residents can apply for a license to carry a gun.

While on Fox News, Paxton said that the news of the shooting, “breaks my heart.”
