Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.
Your dreams are an innate gift from God. That means you were born with this blessed gift. You possess the ability to open the Sacred Doorways to the Divine. Visitation dreams have the ability to reconnect you with your deceased loved ones. Your loved ones miss you as much as you miss them. These sacred dream pathways are a reminder that death is not the end and that grief is love.
Death is one door closing while another one opens.
Almost no one makes it through life without having to cope with the loss of a loved one. Bereavement is a ubiquitous part of being a human being. The death of a parent, child, or grandparent can be extremely distressing, and require therapy to move beyond the pain.
What if… we could use our dreams as a form of grief-therapy?
But, just as we grieve the loss of our loved ones, they also miss us, and they can feel our grief. Dreams are the doorway between the realms of the living and the dead. In this place given to us by God, and accessed with His permission, we can reconnect. Love is the key that unlocks the door.
Dreams help us truly believe that rather than the end, death is a new beginning.
We may have been told many times in many different situations that death is only a new beginning, but sometimes it is hard to believe this during the actual time of grief. You worry that your loved one may be suffering or lost. We even unconsciously reinforce this notion when we say, “We lost them.” You want so badly to know for certain that they are alright and happy even though you are miserable. Such is the pain of love.
How often have you heard someone say, “I dreamed of my mother last night, and the dream was so real I forgot she was dead in the dream and hugged her. I was so happy to see her, again.” In most dream visitation cases the dream does not feel like the typical run-of-the-mill dream. It is special on so many levels.
Whether it is a mother, father, sister brother, best friend or a beloved distant family member, grief from their death is emotionally painful and can last for a very long time.
Medically induced sleep is one way to deal with extreme trauma and grief.
For many bereaved persons, the usual treatment for grief-related sleep disturbances is a course of hypnotics prescribed by their general practitioner.
During the fourth of a five-part interview series on the Kat Kanavos Show featuring the keynote speakers, and featured speakers presenting at the International Association for the Study of Dreams 2018*,* I interviewed two amazing women who do dreams and healing work with their clients. The audio section of the interview is available on Spreaker@Skywatcher Awakened Radio at the bottom of this interview for your listening pleasure. The YouTube Video interview is available for your viewing enjoyment at the bottom of the second part of this blog where we discussed the power of visitation dreams in our healing process and share true visitation dream stories that healed grief.
