Beth Davies-Stofka

Contributor

Beth Davies-Stofka teaches courses on comparative religion and the philosophy of religion. Her teaching and research focus in two areas: the challenges that violence and human suffering present to theological ethics, and explorations of philosophy and theology in popular culture.

She has been an online columnist and critic for the past three years, writing on comics for Broken Frontier, and writing on comics, books, and film for The Comic Book Bin. She has contributed to a number of academic journals and edited volumes, most recently a study of the death of God in Continuum's forthcoming Graven Images: Religion in Comic Books & Graphic Novels, and several entries for the forthcoming Encyclopedia of Religion and Film from Greenwood Press. She is currently completing a book on the emergence of the Lebanese Hizballah.

Dr. Davies-Stofka was named Online Master Teacher of the Year 2008 by Front Range Community College, and is currently the recipient of two research grants. One supports the development of a game in Second Life designed to teach students about the Tibetan Book of the Dead. The second supports research into the effects of immersive technologies on student learning objectives.
