Not Just About the Hereafter
October 14, 2009
An Interview of Dr. Mark Roberts
The YEV? series asks evangelicals of all stripes two questions. First, why are you an evangelical? And second, where would you like to see evangelicalism in 10-20 years? Thus we invite our interviewees to reflect on what is of deepest worth in the evangelical tradition and also to think creatively about how the evangelical community can grow in the years to come.
This week we interviewed the Rev. Dr. Mark D. Roberts. For sixteen years, he was pastor of the Irvine Presbyterian Church in Irvine, CA. Since 2007, he has been the Senior Director and Pastor-in-Residence at Laity Lodge. Mark received his B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard University, and he has taught classes in New Testament for Fuller Theological Seminary and San Francisco Theological Seminary. His many books included Can We Trust the Gospels?: Investigating the Reliability of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John (Crossway Books, 2007) and No Holds Barred: Wrestling with God in Prayer (WaterBrook, 2005). He also writes a very popular blog.
Other videos in this series:
• Kathy Tuan-MacLean, Boston area director of InterVarsity's Graduate and Faculty Ministry
• Jeff Barneson, a "sandal-wearing guru" of campus ministry at Harvard University;
• Daniel Harrell, a pastor at Boston's storied Park Street Church;
• Joshua Good, who is doing social justice work in Washington, D.C.
